Small Town Artifacts
I always find it exciting to stumble upon signs of the past when driving through some of the small midwestern towns. Some might see them as an eyesore, but I think it’s a nice reminder of a time when businesses had a real feel of individuality. Plus, the type is always so cool! And, believe me, I’m not the only one who feels this way . . .

How cool! There used to be a Sky High drive-in theatre in Columbia, Mo, where I grew up. I recently shot some signs in the Overland Park area that I’ve always loved (Glenwood Theatre being one). It’s fun to see these retro reminders.

I so wish my camera wasn’t in the trunk when I passed the “Sumt’n Sumt’n” convenience store somewhere between Alabama and Missouri earlier this month…Sigh, they don’t make ‘em like they used to.

Dave,
If you ever make it to Parsons on a press check you will find some cool signs there. I saw a few and wished I had our better camera with me. I only had my point and shoot along and we were driving. I love these photos.
